Default That thing you just realized...

This thread is about something that you just realised about Guild Wars and want to share it with someone. It could be that a certain NPC looks like another or that Kormir is secretly a Ninja or something.

Let's start with my sudden realisation about Guild Wars:
If you really really think about it, Guild Wars is just a dress up game. As far as PvE is concerned, that is it's purpose. Fight, to get gear, to fight, to get better gear, to fight to get pretty gear. Maybe fight some more to get some pretty pet that follows you around. How is this any different from playing with dolls? We just work to look prettier and have a prettier word(s) below our name. Many may argue with me... but why do you make money in Guild Wars?

Let the Realisations be posted!

@OP: The same could be said for RL. Why do we work to make money in RL besides having a roof over our heads and grub in our guts? We work to buy things we want.

I would say that my realizaition about GW is that the 8 skills to a skill bar is awesome. It gives the game a more tactical feel as opposed to other games where you have every skill at your disposal.

I would counter your argument about it only being to get nice stuff. I spent my money on things of use as well. Weapons for heroes(for functionality), for tomes so I could learn skills/Elite skills for crucial builds in certain areas. Money for insignias and runes for multiple characters and ALL of their heroes. I think you have a point, but you are unclear in how you put it. If you are saying, "what do i do with all my money after I have achieved everything in GW that I want to?" then maybe you have a point. I notice that I give a lot of my stuff/money away to alliance mates that are still working on the stuff i was working on a few years ago. I think you make a pretty base argument from one angle. There are many angles and yours just happens to be a single way of looking at it.

People normaly buy prettier Stuff to show off. Face it.
And that's what makes GW awesome. You can really show off (ok, now please no,"i don't care about e-peen"), as you musn't get that BDS or that FoW(all stats r the same), but you choose to spend the ectos/gold on it. GW is just for people to whoop out their epeens and compare who has the biggest. And if it's not their armor weapons it's their titles ("gtfo r3 noob!").
Savvy?

That for some reason I have a heck of a time getting on GW Guru at work. long time outs pauses too long for loading screens. Work runs run IE but at home I run fire-fox and rarely have problems.

BackOnTopic

The Hench healer sucks in war of kyrta even with all the changes.

After 58 months of playing GW I realised that the Reaper's Mark skill icon does not depict the Statue of Liberty around a month ago.

Part of the fun of gearing up and customizing is that you have to play to get the money to do it, even if it's just for a collector item or something. Though I do enjoy customizing, I'd much rather earn my Jade/Amber through competitive missions than buy it just because I enjoy the experience. Sapphires and rubies? Treasure runs and quests, plzkthx. It's not that I hate spending money, it's just that dishing it out for things I can easily get by simply playing the game is a hell of a lot more fun.

I just realized how rare it is to actually see armor combinations in-game. I see them in the screenshots forum, but I wish I could actually find them more often while playing.

lol, I always thought it did too. I just noticed it 3 or 4 months ago when I put it on Olias and went "Wait a minute...that's a guy's hand!"

On a scale from 1-Drab, your post is about an 8.

Hmmm, after 4 years I haven't found myself with a "...OHHHHHHHHH" moment.

Perhaps Natural Healing's skill icon being a cut-n-paste job of the Nightfall box (excluding CE)?

A few months ago after asking someone in my guild help me trade back in forth to split up a stack of lockpicks, I realized that the shift key lets you do just that... :headsmack:

This thread could be taken two ways: Point out profound things about the game from a perspective not many people take, or "boy was I stupid to not realize this about the game mechanics!"

Anyway, mine apply to the latter:

The friend who got me into this game had played for about 2 years before he dragged me in. He'd always spaz at me about getting too close to the mobs, when my aggro circle was clearly nowhere near the red dots. It wasn't until somewhat recently that he said, "Hey, I just realized that that translucent white circle on the radar is the aggro bubble!"

Apparently he'd been judging aggro based on proximity to mobs on the screen, and all that time had assumed the bubble on the radar was basically just a "you are here" marker.

He's usually so smart with stuff like that, too....

I, however, am not. So I don't feel too bad about it taking me 15 months to realize that end-game collector trophies are stackable. I'd been wasting like 5 inventory slots with Droknar's Keys and Amulets of the Mists. Ironic part? What clued me in was when I traded one of them from my newly-purchased STORAGE ACCOUNT to my main, where it auto-stacked.

Find Their Weakness!, anthem of envy, anthem of weariness and disrupting anthem work on spirits, and that specifically anguish will double the damage vs a hexed target.
